BEO 2009

Hello! I have been out in Laax for 10 days at the European open, I flew out on the 7th of January, a few days early so I could get some practice in with Roxy team mate Silje and Linn. We had amazing weather the whole week, with blue bird skys every day. The practice for the Slopestyle went really well, and I was ready to charge for the qualification but I think my nerves got the best of me finding it hard to put down a clean run, I spun on all 3 kickers but just didn't quite land cleanly enough putting my hand down on the 1st and 3rd kicker, this put me in 25th position out of 50 riders. It was a great experience to be ridding with girls of such a high standard, and I progressed greatly throughout the week learning to spin in 3 directions. During practice I learnt a cab 5 so I was really stoked with that and I can't wait to get out to the next competition to put it in a run! At the end of the week, I had a great time watching the finals, and ridding with some of the GB guys, Tom Hunt, Jamie Nicholls, Cody Hierons and Sam Turnbull, we rode some off piste in Laax and managed to get totally lost, and it took us around an hour and a half to find the piste again!

Roxy Chicken Jam Kaprun Austria

I am just back from Kaprun, from the USA I went straight onto the Roxy Chicken Jam a 6* Event, one of the Women's most prestigious TTR Events in the TTR Tour.

I arrived a couple of days before the start of the competition, for a training camp with the rest of the Roxy Girls and coach Lesley Mckenna. The conditions on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier where not great when I first arrived, there was strong wind, making it difficult to practice for the qualification.

The day of the 12th of December (the qualification day) had been the best weather yet, even still there were strong winds but we battled through! The qualification went really well for me, I landed one clean run, to finish in 3rd place, which entitled me to a place in the main session with the 20 invited riders. 8 Riders out of the 30 qualifiers go through to the main session, also for finishing in the Top 3 I won a swatch TTR Watch.

The day of the Finals, there was extreme winds, gusts up to 140km an hour, they started to run the comp, but it was unsafe as people where overshooting and Knuckling due to the changes in the direction of the wind. On the Sunday they cancelled the Finals again, as the weather was too bad and it was dangerous to ride.
Aswell as ridding and competing we did some filming for a Roxy Podcast and we where all made up as Zombie's!!! and learnt the thriller dance (check it)

On the Saturday night, Roxy hosted a huge party in Kaprun's castle which was a huge success and lightened everyones spirits despite the cancellation.

I am now back home, after 3 solid weeks of shredding! and travelling, currently i'm sitting in school in one of my free periods! enjoying being back to normality for the Christmas period, and then back out on the slopes at the start of January in Laax for the Burton European Open.

Have a good Christmas!

Breckenridge USA

I am just back from an awesome trip to Colorado USA. I flew out to CO on the 24th of November for 2 weeks with the GB Team. We were staying right by the terrrain park in a HUGEE house at peak 8! Don't think I have ever been in such a big house, it slept 18 people and I had my own room which was amazing. The house had 2 hot tubs a cinema room and a huge pool table room!!! Both the freestyle team and the World cup teams were staying together. The Freestyle team consists of...

Nelson Pratt
Ed Gunn
Jack Shackelton
Laura Hill

Claire Frost
Kate Harrison
Laura Berry (PT)
Jamie Nichols (PT)
Jenny Jones (PT)

Lewis Courtier Jones (Elite Junior)
Aimee Fuller (Elite Junior)

See the following link http://snowsportgb.com/Snowboard

The first couple of Days we rode at Keystone Mountain as it was the only resort with a terrain park up, that was good fun, many little Jibs and one Kicker. Mid week we had a massive snowfall which was good news as there had been lack of snow. It snowed on and off for 3 days and we ended up with 3 foot of Fresh powder right outside on the deck.

Copper pipe opened towards the end of the first week, the pipe was crammed with people and teams from all over the world getting in early season training and preparation for the Grand Prix. The pipe was in really good shape and on the 2nd to last day I got a Mctiwst on Lockdown, which I am looking forward to putting into a run!

Other than the good snow conditions, we got up to lots of other things, we prepared a huge thanksgiving dinner, aswell as bargain hunting in Silverthorne Outlets! I went with Kate Foster from the GB World Cup team, on what we thought was going to be a small shopping trip, but the Interstate came to a standstill due to the heavy snow and the Holiday makers on their way back to Denver after the thanksgiving period. So it took us 3 hours on a public bus, and we ended up having to hike along the carriage way for 2 miles to reach the mall but it was soo worth it in the end!

By the time my venture in the USA had come to an end, Keystone opened their big park and had a Kicker line open, which was perfect as I had 2 days practice there before the Roxy Chicken Jam In Kaprun Austria.

Hintertux Austria

I am just back from Hintertux, I spent a week there with the GB freestyle team, the weather wasn't to great up on the hill, 70km winds one day, but down in the valley had some really nice warm weather so we got some serious skating in! I am really into fruit booting!!! but the guys managed to convince me to skateboard, and I have started to get hooked! Breckenridge USA on the 24th can't wait!

LG LONDON FREEZE

I have been in London for the past few days for the LG Freeze at Battersea power station. I flew over from Belfast early Thursday morning , and went straight into London to help out with the Roxy stand! Was by far the coolest stand not that I am Bias or anything :) Was a real success as we had a Roxy beauty Glitter Photo booth, the public came in and took some snaps of themselves in all the 08/09 Roxy Outerwear , goggles and hats! Check out some of the pics from the event ...

Saas Fee

Just back from Saas Fee in Switzerland, was a great start to the season, was away with my Sponsor Roxy and the rest of the girls from the European team . We did a combination of training as well as filming for a podcast which should be out shortly and getting some shots for this season.

Was good to get my feet back again. After ridding there was plenty to keep us occupied, skating , volleyball, photo shoots and yoga every day once off the hill. I am looking forward to the LG Freeze coming up in the next few days in London, and will keep you informed on how that goes!
