Last summer

Hey, summer has finally started! I finished my exams last week, the feeling is amazing! I have been raking through some pictures from last summer (08) and I found these motocross pictures. We went back to the USA to visit, and we met up with some old friends and rented out Budds Creek in Virginia, was such a fun day, the heat was insane, hope you like the pics

Brits wrap up

I have had so much fun the past ten days in Laax, it has been non stop!  I took 2 British Championship titles for Halfpipe and Slopestyle, not only have I been competing but I have also progressed a great deal.

I was loving the Halfpipe comp yesterday, the pipe was super slushy due to the blue bird Sky's and super warm weather. It was like glacier shredding. I stomped my run and made it through to the finals to ride in the senior category. I was the only Junior to qualify for the open event, I won my category with a frontside air mute grab, followed by a Mc Twist, a front 3, cab 3, and a HOHO!!! (2 handed hand plant).

In the slopestlye I spun in 3 different directions, backside, frontside and Cab, which I have never done before in competition.

Everyday after the events,  prize giving was held down in the town, where they had a massive airbag, and some street rails to session, this was a cool way to end each day!

Day 1 Boardercross

Today was hectic, clouds where rolling in and out of the boardercross track all day making visibility poor. Boardercross is a race down a vertical decent against 4 other riders. The course was really fun, with a variation of rollers, kickers and berms, the first obstacle was a small but super whippy kicker. I made it through the qualification into 2nd place and won the semi's.

The finals went down with Gemma Marshall in 1st, followed by myself , Becky Cullum in 3rd and Sam Rogers finishing in 4th. I managed to fall on the first kicker, overshooting it and landing to the flat, that put me in last place, I managed to work my way through the field to finish in 2nd place.

overall it was a good day, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the upcoming events this week.

LAAX is where it's at!

Im here in Laax at the moment for the British Champs, I have been out here for 2 days now and it's aweosme out here, I am here a few days early to get some practice before the start of champs, there is tons of snow for this time of year!

The first day I was ridding with some of the GB guys and we built a powder kicker! I nailed a couple of backflips and attempted a rodeo! Some crazy stuff was going down, double backflips, switch back 9's and Tom Hunt nailed a double front flip. I am really looking forward to the comp next week. Everyone is arriving on the 28th, and then I will then be moving into an apartment with the Roxy girls for the week. Monday it's boardercross, so I will update you then. As for now check this  shot of me on the pow kicker!

First ever Roxy Snowboard Camp Morzine

I deffinatley one the snowball fight

I am back from Morzine, where Roxy hosted the first ever Roxy Ski and Snowboard camp! Lesley Mckenna was head coach, and I was there as assistant coach, I also got a wee bit of ridding in myself before the British Champs in 2 weeks time!

The week was very successful, with Massages, shopping, makeovers and offcourse lots of shredding! we where staying in the most amazing chalet (Star ski chalets) it over looked the whole of Morzine, I think it is perhaps the nicest place I have ever stayed when I have been away in the Mountains :)

It was my first experience of actually teaching snowboarding, and it gave me another perspective of the sport, not only did I get some valuable time coaching, I also gained from my experience of breaking the moves down, then relating it to my own snowboarding.

Mid week Roxy surfer Candice came out to try snowboarding, she picked it up super quickly and we had her going off the jumps on the first day!It was hard to believe she had never been in the mountains before! It was insane how quickly she learned! We had a great time mucking around both up and down the mountain, we had 2 Weetabix competitions, the first was to see who could eat six Weetabix the fastest, unfortunately I lost this by a mouthful as Candice's time was under 2:30's! But for sure I won the dry Weetabix eating contest hands down! So right now it's a draw.

The weather wasn't to great throughout the week, but on the last day it was blue bird, and it had been dumping so I got a few turns and the rest of the girls gave the powder a blast.

There should be a podcast coming out on the week, so check back soon!

GB Junior team trip

Hello,
I am just back from an epic trip to Avoriaz France, I was out there with the GB Junior team for a week's training. In all it was a really fun trip, I learned loads, and hopefully soon I'm going to put together a GB Junior edit from the week away.
On the 2nd day I had a slight incident with a backflip. I was ridding with GB team mate Dec Power and we decided we where going to backflip the hip in the big park! Dec went first and all was okay, but when it was my turn... I approached the hip with enough speed and got stuck mid way, and landed on my face, other than a really bad head ache all day I was fine, and I guess I learned what you shouldn't do when doing a backflip!
I am just home now and getting back into school, I am away next week starting the 1st of March to help coach on one of the Roxy Snow camps, check out the site

SNOW IN NORTHERN IRELAND ??!!

Hello, super happy today as we got some snow over here in Belfast, doesn't exactly compare to the snow in mainland Europe. I went up to stormont with a few friends after school, was awesome fun to have snow at home, its pretty rare over here to get snow so pretty much everything came to a standstill! A couple of my friends Purcy and John gave it ago!

here are a few random pics from the Snowfall over here
Enjoy!

Time at Home / New Sponsor Vans

I have been home for 3 weeks now, which I guess is a record for the most part of the school year. I had my school formal last week which was great fun, it's a huge deal over here, like the Proms in the USA. I have also had exams which is not exciting, but they are all done now and I am really looking forward to getting out to the slopes next week ! I am going to Avoriaz France with the GB Juniors.

The whole of the UK has been blessed with snow apart from us over here in Northern Ireland, typical, I guess it's because we are situated on the Sea. Hopefully we may get some snow tonight but I am not going to get my hopes up too much, but......... If we do I am looking forward to hitting up some street spots in Belfast, shredding on the home turf! I have never seen any snow over here, in the whole 2 years I have lived here, maybe that's because I was away snowboarding last time it snowed!

Good News, I have a new sponsor, (Vans) they are providing me with Boots and Footwear this season, I am really looking forward to working with them and getting to know the rest of the team, as well as going on some team trips! See there website www.vans.eu

BEO 2009

Hello! I have been out in Laax for 10 days at the European open, I flew out on the 7th of January, a few days early so I could get some practice in with Roxy team mate Silje and Linn. We had amazing weather the whole week, with blue bird skys every day. The practice for the Slopestyle went really well, and I was ready to charge for the qualification but I think my nerves got the best of me finding it hard to put down a clean run, I spun on all 3 kickers but just didn't quite land cleanly enough putting my hand down on the 1st and 3rd kicker, this put me in 25th position out of 50 riders. It was a great experience to be ridding with girls of such a high standard, and I progressed greatly throughout the week learning to spin in 3 directions. During practice I learnt a cab 5 so I was really stoked with that and I can't wait to get out to the next competition to put it in a run! At the end of the week, I had a great time watching the finals, and ridding with some of the GB guys, Tom Hunt, Jamie Nicholls, Cody Hierons and Sam Turnbull, we rode some off piste in Laax and managed to get totally lost, and it took us around an hour and a half to find the piste again!
